Maybe Magneto Should Read God Loves, Man Kills
I must admit, Chris Claremont was one serious badass when it comes to writing stories back in the X-Men’s heyday.
And I also have to admit that Magneto kind of wussed out in some aspect or another during Matt Fraction’s Nation X story arc. Bowing to Cyclops and letting Xavier get to him. Although it was a brilliant thing to do to become Cyclop’s consigliere.
Now I’m currently reading the classic X-Men book, God Loves Man Kills which was the source material for Bryan Singer’s X-2 Movie.

The books opening was chilling, creepy, disturbing with a small bit of hope appearing by the end of the scene.
Read more after the cut.
From the books opening page, you’ll know that theres something really wrong. Two kids are murdered by the Purifiers with their bodies “hoisted into the swing” to serve as a warning.

I tell you these Purifiers are bad news. Even without their change in uniform they’re always bad news…

Yes Magneto make them pay. However towards the middle part of the story, Magneto strikes up an alliance with the X-Men and take down William Stryker (who reappears yet again during Second Coming)
Now I don’t have a problem with him being a good guy and all that. On the contrary, I like the new status quo where the mutant populace has dwindled so much that the lines between bad and good mutant has gone the way of the dodo.
What I don’t want is the fact that Magneto’s too “sissy” or too “kind” after Nation X. Couldnt he have waited for a couple years before bringing Kitty back (in real time though, cuz couple of years may mean Kitty’s dead already in that bullet.)
This little ditty aims to bring back Magneto to his former glory. And probably, I’m just really impressed with the dialogue and the clear cut motivation in Magneto’s speech after taking down the dead kids bodies.
To Chris Claremont, you rocked!

Claremont may not be as great now as he used to be but in his heyday he could
do no wrong.
From a girl who collects X-Men comics.
Quite true.
